Division Two Crystal Palace upset Division One strugglers Everton with a staggering 6-0 win at Goodison Park. John Whibley (4), Bertie Menlove (22, 68), Alan Wood (69) and Jack Connor (67, 85) scored the goals on the day, with the three goals scored in two second-half minutes doing all of the damage.

Billy Gilbert scored the only goal of the game 9 minutes from time to give Palace a first win in 7 matches.

Michael Hughes gave Palace the lead after just 4 minutes with a thumping free kick, and at this point, a thrashing looked likely. Josh Low levelled just 8 minutes later, however, and some FA Cup magic threatened.

Unfortunately for the Cobblers, Jobi McAnuff score 8 minutes before the break and two second half penalties, Andy Johnson (53) and Dougie Freedman (88), comfortable saw the Eagles through.

Championship Bolton forced a Selhurst Park replay after a bore draw at the Macron Stadium. Julian Speroni appeared for Palace and in doing so became the Club's all-time appearance holder for a goalkeeper, moving on to 389. The Argentine stopper kept his 108th clean sheet for the Eagles, moving to within three shutouts of Nigel Martyn's record.
