Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle United

Premier League – Att: 25,118

Manager: Alan Pardew

Alan Pardew faced his former team for the first time since heading south for Palace and he had Yannick Bolasie to thank for earning his team a point.

Papiss Cisse (42) had headed home just before the break to give the visitors the lead. The Senegal International unwisely decided to run around the back of the goal and across the front of the Holmesdale, where he celebrated with the entire Newcastle team. Objects rained down on the visiting players and a fine was imminent for the Club as a result.

A lack of creativity up top for the hosts looked to be handing John Carver’s team the three points. However, on 68 minutes, Pardew threw on Bolasie, who had only just returned from the African Cup of Nations – it took him just three minutes to make an impact.

He put in a beautiful early cross, giving fellow substitute Fraizer Campbell (71) the simple task of sliding the ball home.
