Crystal Palace 5-1 Brentford

League Cup 1st Round 2nd Leg – Att: 10,684

Manager: Terry Venables

After losing 2-1 in the first leg, Palace seemingly took the defeat to heart and exacted revenge with a convincing win. Phillips scored the only goal for Brentford as Harkouk (2) (below), Cannon, Graham and a Salman OG saw Palace to a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Coventry City

Championship – Att: 12,330

Manager: Dougie Freedman

What a night this was! Lukas Jutkiewicz scored the most bizarre of goals as Julian Speroni flapped at air as the ball dropped over his head to give Coventry the lead. Despite a valiant attacking effort from Palace, the game looked set to end in victory for the visitors.

As the clocked ticked past 90, Wilfried Zaha broke into the box and drew a save from Joe Murphy in the Coventry goal. The ball was then only half cleared from the rebound and the ball popped up for Sean Scannell who produced a world-class scissor volley to smash home the equaliser.

Palace were not done here either. Six minutes into stoppage time and Zaha breaks into the box again. Once more his shot if parried by Murphy and this time Jermaine Easter is on hand to poke home the winner to send the small but noisy crowd into rapture. My friend Jon Petrie saw his glasses smashed into a million pieces during the goal celebrations but it didn’t stop us partying and singing in the Cherry Trees until the last train home.

Crystal Palace announce the signing of Florian Marange. SachaDelano's tweet pretty much predicts how this one will work out.

Arsenal 2-1 Crystal Palace

Premier League – Att: 59,962

Manager: Keith Millen (Caretaker)

Palace and Arsenal open the Premier League season with the early kick off on this Saturday. Brede Hangeland gave Palace the lead on his debut for the club in the 35th minute but Palace would succumb to an injury time goal in each half, first from Koscielny and Ramsey. Life without Tony Pulis beings with a defeat but the Palace fans take heart in the performance and Keith Millen is praised for his efforts.

Jason Puncheon was red carded two minutes before the Arsenal winner and was on the end of a fair amount of stick in the forums and on twitter.

Meanwhile, Steve Parish denies that there was a transfer row with Pulis.
