Winless and six and without a goal in five, dreams of automatic promotion had evaporated and merely holding on to a Play-Off place was starting to look unlikely. Leicester, in the chasing pack just behind Palace, came to Selhurst Park and a loss would have seen the Eagles drop into the last Play-Off place – level on points with Dougie Freedman’s Bolton who had stormed up the league under his stewardship.

Relief swept around Selhurst Park when Danny Gabbidon (26) headed home in the first half to end the eight hour barren run, but the lead lasted just 11 minutes as Andy King (37) ensured the scores were level at the break.

Loan man Stephen Dobbie (67) put Palace back in front midway through the second half with a beautiful curling effort from the edge of the penalty area, but again the joy was short lived. Chris Wood (73) smashed home the equaliser.

The draw left Palace clinging on to the Play-Offs, but little did Palace fans know – they had already witnessed the last loss of the season.
