Dave Bassett departed Crystal Palace for the final time, leaving out of the blue again to join Premier League stugglers Nottingham Forest.

Doncaster Rovers 1-1 Crystal Palace

Championship – Att: 9,779

Manager: Neil Warnock

Palace travelled to Doncaster and it felt like a game that they needed to win to halt the slide, three losses on the bounce, down towards the relegation zone after the 10 point Administration deduction.

James Coppinger gave the hosts the lead eight minutes before the break in a half dominated by the hosts. Neil Warnock made some alterations at half time and Palace came back into the game.

The Eagles found an equaliser midway through the second half when Kieron Djilali (67) converted at the back stick to send the travelling support bonkers.

Little did we know that the bottom four now looked identical to the final day standings.

Speculation about Neil Warnock leaving was building:

"Nothing has changed. Until I am told any differently I have a job to do and it is a difficult job.

"The last 20 minutes of the first half we were a shambles, but that was down to me as well because of the tactics.

"Second half we were more positive and that takes some doing when you play 10 games in 30 days with a squad of 16 or 17.

"Some were running on empty but there was a lot of commitment and we could have won it at the end. We showed guts."

Palace Links: Former Palace man John Oster was replaced by future Palace man Jordon Mutch.
