Blackburn Rovers 3-1 Crystal Palace

League Division Two Play-Off Final 1st Leg – Att: 16,421

Manager: Steve Coppell

Back in 1989, the Play-Off Final was a two-legged affair – which was lucky for Palace. Howard Gayle (20, 26) scored twice in six first-half minutes to put the hosts into a commanding position, one which they held until four minutes from time.

Eddie McGoldrick then popped up in the penalty area to hack home from close range and give Palace second leg hope – or so we thought.

With the ninety minutes almost expired, Simon Garner (89) scored to re-establish Rovers’ two-goal lead, giving Palace a mountain to climb at Selhurst Park in the second leg.

It is announced that Crystal Palace FC has only 24 hours to live. If a deal is not struck with the CPFC2010 consortium, the Club would be liquidated and cease to exist.

Refusing to lay down and die, Palace fans come out in force at Selhurst Park to raise awareness of our plight.
