Crystal Palace failed to score despite having 31 attempts at the Cardiff City goal and had Vicente Guaita to thank for a fantastic reflex save late on.

Andros Townsend, who talked about wanting to score "scrappy goals" after his wonder striker at Manchester City, missed the opportunity to do just that when he struck the crossbar in the opening minute of the game. Despite the thirty attempts that followed, this was arguably the best chance that Palace could muster.

Connor Wickham, plagued by injuries for two years, saw 28 minutes of action after replacing Max Meyer and perhaps a sharper Wickham would have broken the deadlock, but his snapshot on the turn missed the target.

Man of the Match: Wilfried Zaha

Wilf was also guilty of poor finishing, but his play on the ball was approaching somewhere near his best. His 8 dribbles were the most that he has managed in a game this season, as was his 5 key passes.
